IMG Artists Signs Violinist Ye-Eun Choi to General Management
IMG Artists is pleased to announce that it has signed 26-year-old South Korean violinist Ye-Eun Choi for General Management. She will be represented by Tanja Dorn, Senior Vice President of Artist Management and Director of IMG Artists GmbH, from the Hannover office and by Artist Manager Sophia Budianto in New York.

Whilst studying with Ana Chumachenco at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Ms Choi was noted for her exceptional talent and musical maturity. In 2005 she was brought to the attention of Anne-Sophie Mutter who awarded Ms Choi a scholarship from her foundation and has continued to mentor the young artist.

Ms Choi, the 2007 American Symphony Orchestra League Rising Star and 2013 Young Artist European Culture Award winner, made her New York Philharmonic debut under Alan Gilbert in 2009. She has since been in great demand by renowned conductors including Sir Sir André Previn, Alan Gilbert, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Manfred Honeck, Kent Nagano, Charles Dutoit, Michael Francis, Christoph Eschenbach, Vladmimir Fedoseyev, Yuri Bashmet, Christian Vasquez and the late Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos; and orchestras including the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Munich Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. Ms Choi is also a frequent performer at major festivals including Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Verbier Festival, Recontres Musicales d’Évian, at La Folle Journée, Bulgos Festival and the Walled City Music Festival.

Ms Choi said, “I’m honoured to be working with IMG Artists, who are known for their rich experience and global network. I hope that my love and passion for music is shared and enjoyed with a larger audience through the good hands of IMGA.”

Ms Dorn said, “Ye-Eun’s violin playing is defined by her many facets, her strength of character and immense creative drive. Her unique sound, rich with vibrant timbres, is composed of both highly sensitive nuance-shaping and dynamic enthusiasm – a combination that is not easily found and that distinctly sets Ye-Eun apart, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. I find that an incredible power emanates from her.”

Recent highlights include her orchestral debuts with the RSB Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra in Berlin’s Philharmonie, Hamburg Philharmonic and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; Kennedy Center recital debut with Christoph Eschenbach; and in concert with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio under Vladimir Fedoseyev in the Tonhalle Zurich.

Forthcoming highlights include her November 2014 North American tour with Anne-Sophie Mutter and fellow Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation scholarship recipients with concerts at prestigious venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Washington D.C.’s The John F. Kennedy Center, Chicago’s Orchestra Hall and Toronto’s Roy Thompson Hall; and her 2015 debut with the San Francisco Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas.

Ms Choi released her debut album on Deutsche Grammophon in 2013 featuring sonata by Mendelssohn, Schubert and Prokofiev.

Ms Choi lives in Munich, Germany and plays a violin by Pietro Giacomo Rogeri (1710), generously lent to her by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation.
